Yes they do. Women have more hormonal issues which effects weightloss, as you will have weeks where your body retains water or you have cravings to eat sugary foods etc. Men have less hormonal issues and the weight usually drops off. Men also burn a lot more calories that women and work harder during training session’s therefore burning more calories.
The best thing is to try and do things during the weightloss process to help tighten the skin and to improve the elasticity of the skin. You can do things such as body wraps, cellulite massages and dry brushing. Try and dry brush every night before showering and then do a wrap or cell twice a week. Weight training and toning also needs to be incorporated.
There is NO quick fix! So if you find a pill that make your drop weight then be sure to know that it is not permanent and your weight will slowly come back! You will need to eat correctly and exercise in order to see results. The only realistic way to lose weight is to “eat less, exercise more!”…meaning you need to burn off more calories in a day, than what you are eating!
Your BMI is a good indicator though. Divide your weight in kgs by your height in metres squared, and the result will be a two-digit number. Although it’s a little generalised, you should fall between 18.5 and 25 to be considered at a healthy weight. A lower number indicates you are underweight, whilst a higher number suggests you are overweight. A body composition test is far more realistic however, as this indicates how much water, muscle, fat etc your body is made up on, rather than judging by the scale! Body composition tests are done during our Consultations, otherwise clients are able to book a once-off assessment which will also include the full Body Composition test.
We are a nation of all shapes and sizes, so it is difficult to draw a common thread amongst all of us. In general though, I prefer a scientific approach of calories in versus calories out. The average woman who enjoys moderate exercise three times a week should be eating around 1500 calories a day to maintain a healthy weight. If you have a hectic training schedule and exercise daily, you can up your intake of calories. It’s all about balance!
Your weight divided by 10 = how many glasses of water per day you should drink!
Water plays an important role in our bodies as well as weight loss! Water boosts your metabolic rate, which gives you energy and helps to burn calories. The benefits of water are numerous, a well-hydrated body helps your muscles and organs to work quickly and efficiently. When your body is working well, it will boost your metabolic rate and help you to feel more energetic. Water can help your metabolism burn calories 3% faster. Before you eat, always drink a glass of water, and you will find you will eat less! So often we think we are hungry, but in fact it’s actually our bodies telling us that we’re dehydrated and thirsty! Try to listen to what your body needs and keep a water bottle close at hand. You don’t want to be adding on the extra kilo’s by eating when you’re not even hungry. If you’re feeling hungry drink a of water 15 minutes before eating, it will help to subside your hunger so you can better manage your portion control.
You can never have too much vegetable juice, but 500ml of fresh undiluted vegetable juice is sufficient. Juicing is a brilliant way to “eat” your daily greens.
No, absolutely not!! Starving yourself is the WORST way to lose weight, as it completely wreaks havock on your metabolism! The minute you skip meals, your body starts to store everything you eat as fat, as it’s not sure when it will next get a meal! Your metabolism is then completely messed up and slowed down, so please DO NOT starve yourself! You need to be eating about 5 small meals a day, keeping them healthy, nutrient dense and low GI to give you sustained energy throughout the day.
Please DO NOT ingest the Bentonite Clay you find in most health shops, as this is a completely different Clay altogether!!! That specific powdered Bentonite Clay has a large and varied mineral content which has a negative electrical attraction for positively charged particles. In the human body, various toxic poisons are positively charged. But because of its high aluminium content, we DO NOT recommend using the Clay Facial Masks internally. We do however stock a Bentonite Clay which is for ingesting, and we have our own supplier locally. Our Bentonite Clay is a greenish sticky clay consistency which sinks to the bottom of the glass when added to water, so please DO NOT swallow the Clay you find in house shops which is a face mask!!!
